Cinnamon may soon be used in food wrappers to keep out mold. It was used by ancient Egyptians to stop spoilage and has recently been studied for use in keeping bread, fruits, vegetables and meats fresh.
Your digestive system also affects mood through the hundreds of chemicals and hormones it produces. And your GI tract acts as a second brain with a rich network of nerves and ganglia, it communicated directly with the brain and heart.
Speaking of the GI tract - it is important to take a good probiotic if you have taken a course of antibiotics or are under stress as both may suppress beneficial organisisms that keep the balance of good and bad bacteria in check.

If you are suffering with pain try breathing! According to Dr. Vijay Vad proper breathing in a slow controlled rhythm is a fast pain reliever because it shifts the mind's attention away from the pain.
And if you suffer with joint pain try using giner in addition to glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate as it has been used for centuries in India to alleviate arthritis pain.
To prevent inflammation avoid red meat and high fructose corn syrup which are loaded with Omega-6 fatty acids. Also watch intake of processed sugars and saturated fats which lead to being overweight, another cause of inflammation.

New Treatment Techniques
Here are a few unusual treatment ideas I recently came across that I thought you might find of interest, especially if you are searching for a new & unique approach to healing:
EMDR:
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
EMDR is a form of therapy that uses rapid eye movement to quickly heal many emotional problems that might take years with more traditional methods, according to its originator, Francine Shapiro, PhD.
EMDR has been successful in treating PTSD, trauma, childhood wounds including abuse, irrational thoughts, fears, phobias and panic anxiety. More recently its benefits for chronic pain, asthma and learning disabilities is being explored.
The theory is that eye movement may somehow triggers the natural healing process that reverses the effect of altered brain chemisty that may occur due to trauma.
